Artists Statement:

She took my pain, she took my fear, she took my regret, she took my loss.

She bottled it up, she held it close.

She lost me. She forgot me.

Why did she do this to us?

Let us out, I plead softly

Self-doubt consumes her. Insecurity grips her.

Fallen for self-harm, self-destruction, and scarcity

Truth hidden.

Truth lost, deep inside. On purpose.

Why?

She was told to hold it,
To carry it,
To lose it,

And never find it again.

For free.

If only she knew,

She could be free

If she chose
To walk the path,
To experience the pain of breaking free of the chains.

But no

The pain she is already in is much too comfortable

She loves it.

She loves to feel unworthy, unappreciated, undeserving, rejected, lonely

Illusions of control lay beside her

Allowing herself to be smothered

She welcomes her distress

It helps her sleep at night.
